My 5-step approach
I focus on helping you leverage your emotional intelligence to lead your teams and increase their (remote) productivity, levels of engagement, and well-being.
Emotional Intelligence (EI) is a set of emotional and social skills that influence how we perceive and express ourselves, develop and maintain social relationships, cope with challenges, and use dynamic information in an effective and meaningful way. I work with the scientifically validated markers from the EQ-i 2.0 Model: self-perception, self-expression, interpersonal relations, decision-making, and stress management.
The EQ-i 2.0 model allows participants to understand how their emotional intelligence impacts their workplace performance (conflict resolution, change management, teamwork, decision making, and more) with strategies customized based on individual survey results.
Step 1: Your Life Wheel
Taking stock of how fulfilled, you feel in your life is essential in understanding how to better manage your time and energy. The general areas in your life are related to your physical environment, health, money, career, family, friends, romantic relations, personal growth, and fun & recreation. People start to feel off-balance and less focused on their work because they over or underinvest in one or more areas.
Together we identify what areas you would like to work on to increase your mental energy and emotional well-being and achieve a better work-life balance.
Step 2: Your Character Strengths
Character strengths enable you to connect with what you are doing and with whom you are doing it. Even if talent allows you to do things well, your work combines with your core character strengths; you can feel your work matters. When people feel recognized and valued for who they are there, what is best about them beyond their talents is deeply meaningful for you and your team.
I work with the 24 VIA Character Strengths assessments and framework, which are universal and scientifically validated. Character strengths are categorized in virtues of Wisdom, Courage, Humanity, Justice, Temperance, and Transcendence. Based on your results, we will develop a strategy to incorporate your signature strengths – those that feel effortless, energizing, engaging – in your professional path and beyond.
Step 3: Your Core Values
The goal of identifying your core values is to increase awareness of what matters to you in the life-wheel area that you believe needs the most attention right now. Here we focus on so-called “values.” Values are the things we consider to be important in life. Values are our heart’s deepest desires for the way we want to interact with the world, other people, and ourselves.
They’re what we want to stand for in life, how we want to behave and what sort of person we want to be. Examples of values are creativity, honesty, freedom, etc.
Your values are the answer to these questions:
- What’s important to you in your life?
- What is your life’s purpose?
- What do you enjoy doing?
- When do you feel satisfied and fulfilled?
Step 4: Leading from Within
The first three steps focus on identifying, igniting, and exercising your leadership skills with yourself. The fourth step is focused on developing a personalized roadmap to help you leverage your personal leadership toolbox and lead others from within. You will learn new tools and techniques to help you exercise stress tolerance, creative problem solving and decision making, communications skills, facilitating practices for remote meetings, and resilience-building with your team.
Step 5: Integration
Our brain is wired to fall back in default response mode based on past behaviors when we feel stress, pressure, and anxiety because of high workload levels. The lizard brain is activated and fuels our response options and behavior with fear. Because it has no image of what the new and desired behaviors look like when implementing your leadership skills.
That’s why I work with visualization techniques to help you imagine and feel your future self leveraging your leadership skills to the fullest potential. Then it will become familiar to your mind, and your success rate at managing your team effectively and efficiently will significantly increase.
